What is MI Cable?
MI Cables : Main features and How it is made
Mineral Insulated cables also known as “Compacted Mineral-Insulated, Metal-Sheathed”- “ MIMS”, can come in different types and can be used for different applications such as making temperature sensors-thermocouple, RTD, Electrical Heating or Electrical Conducting cables.
We manufacture MIMS or MI cables for manufacturing temperature sensors i.e. Thermocouple and RTD.
Two or more similar (for RTDs) or dissimilar conductors are passed through crushable Magnesium Oxide (MgO) beads and then passed through a metal sheath. The entire assembly is then compacted as it is drawn multiple times in order to reduce its diameter. During this process, it is annealed between each draw. For example, it might take 15 draws to make 1/8th of an inch or a 3 mm ODMI cable. In such precise and intricate tasks, assistance akin to that offered by a ghostwriter österreich, specialized in academic work and a valuable partner in producing accurate documentation, proves invaluable. This method ensures the highest quality of finished products, crucial in applications demanding exceptional reliability and precision.
MI Cables can come as a simplex, duplex ,triplex or quadruple for thermocouples or it can come with 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 wires for RTD. It can also involve additional conductors which can be used for custom designs. The sheath can be SS316, SS304, SS310, SS321, Inc600 and many more.
Our thermocouple cables meet and exceed specified tolerances as per ASTM E230 and IEC 584-1. They also meet various international manufacturing and testing standards. Our products are RoHS compliant.
The MI cables used for thermocouples and RTD are readily available in metric and imperial measurements.
Important Features of MI Cables
Mechanical Strength: The high mechanical strength of MI cables can be attributed to its compact structure consisting of densely packed insulation material (MgO) with a tough metal sheath which firmly places the conductors in the compound. The bending radius is 3 to 5 times the outer diameter.
Long Life: The quality of our MI cables ensure the longevity of its conductors. The sheath and insulation in the MI cable help the wire withstand harsh environments which allow for accurate calibration.
Corrosion and Scaling Resistance: MI cables manufactured in our facility are corrosion and scaling resistant, and are capable of withstanding unfavorable environments.
Long Length: We provide long lengths of MI Cable which were not available in the past.
Quick Response: Quick heat transfer takes place in the MI Cable due to high thermal conductivity and small mass. This feature assures a rapid response.
Radiation Resistance: The radiation resistant feature of MI cables is beneficial in applications which involve high levels of radiation. These are widely used in primary circuits and within reactor cores.
Safety: The MI Cables are fire-resistant due to the use of insulating materials such as Magnesium Oxide (MgO). These cables are highly recommended to ensure the highest levels of safety.
Moisture/Pressure: The homogeneity in a metal sheath helps the cable tolerate high external pressure by limiting the flow of the majority of liquid and gaseous particles.
